1 Co je budoucí průběhový čas v angličtině?

Budoucí průběhový čas (Future Continuous) je časové určení používané v angličtině pro vyjádření akce, která bude probíhat v budoucnosti v určitém časovém období. Používá se k vyjádření budoucího činu, který bude trvat určitou dobu a bude probíhat v budoucnosti.

Na rozdíl od budoucího prostého času je zde důraz právě na to, že činnost bude trvat nějakou dobu, nebo bude zrovna probíhat v určitém momentu v budoucnosti.

Například:
I will be studying for my exams next week. (Budu se učit na zkoušky příští týden.)
Next Monday at 5 am, I will be flying to Sweden. (Příští pondělí v 5 hodin ráno zrovna poletím do Švédska.)

2 Jak tvořit budoucí průběhový čas (Future Continuous)?

Budoucí průběhový čas (Future Continuous) se v angličtině tvoří pomocí modálního slovesa „will“, slovesa „be“ a plnovýznamového slovesa s příponou „-ing“.

Například:
I will be studying. (Budu studovat.)
They will be waiting. (Budou čekat.)
He will be cooking. (Bude vařit.)

2.1 Tvorba kladné věty

Kladný tvar budoucího průběhového času má následující strukturu:
podmět + will + be + plnovýznamové sloveso s koncovkou -ing + zbytek věty

• I will be studying for my exams next week. – Budu se učit na zkoušky příští týden.
• They will be waiting for the bus at the bus stop. – Budou čekat na autobus na zastávce.
• He will be cooking dinner for us tonight. – Bude vařit večeři pro nás dnes večer.

2.2 Tvorba záporné věty

Při tvorbě záporné věty se za modální sloveso will připojí záporka NOT:
podmět + will + not + be + plnovýznamové sloveso s koncovkou -ing + zbytek věty

• I will not be studying for my exams next week. – Nebudu se učit na zkoušky příští týden.
• They will not be waiting for the bus at the bus stop. – Nebudou čekat na autobus na zastávce.

Při tvorbě otázky se změní pořadí modálního slovesa “will” a podmětu následovně:

V angličtině existuje několik způsobů, jak vyjádřit budoucí čas. Kromě budoucího průběhového času (Future Continuous) jsou to například:

4.1 Budoucí prostý čas (Future Simple)

Mluvíme-li o aktivitě, která započne i skončí v budoucnosti, neplánovali jsme ji nebo se jedná o momentální rozhodnutí, použijeme budoucí prostý čas. Je tvořen pomocným slovesem „will“ nebo „shall“ a základní tvar slovesa.

Pro popis činností, na které se chystáme a máme je v plánu, je nejvhodnější použít „be going to“. Tato fráze se skládá ze slovesa „be“ v příslušném tvaru a „going to“, které je stejné pro všechny osoby.

4.3 Přítomný průběhový čas (Present Continuous)

Budoucnost lze vyjádřit také přítomným průběhovým časem, a to existuje-li důkaz, že se jedná o naplánovanou akci, nebo je téměř 100% jistota, že k aktivitě dojde.

• I am finishing school this year. – Letos končím školu.

4.4 Přítomný prostý čas (Present Simple)

Aktivity v budoucnu, které jsou plánované a nejčastěji také uvedené v nějakém rozvrhu, popisujeme přítomným prostým časem.

• The train leaves at 5 o’clock. – Vlak odjíždí v pět hodin.
• The movie starts at 8. – Film začíná v osm hodin.

Rozdíly mezi těmito časy spočívají v tom, jakým způsobem jsou vyjádřeny budoucí akce nebo události. Například přítomný prostý čas se používá k vyjádření akcí, které jsou pravidelně opakující se nebo jsou naplánované na konkrétní čas v budoucnosti, zatímco budoucí průběhový čas se používá k vyjádření akce, která bude probíhat v určitém okamžiku v budoucnosti.

Pojďme si rozdíl mezi nimi ilustrovat na následujících příkladech:

• Kate is working tomorrow. – Kate zítra pracuje.
• Kate is going to work tomorrow. – Kate se chystá zítra pracovat. (V obou případech jde o naplánovanou aktivitu, dojde k ní na 99 %.)
• Kate will work tomorrow. – Kate bude zítra pracovat. (Momentální rozhodnutí, míru jistoty lze poznat pouze z kontextu).
• When I get home tomorrow, Kate will be working tomorrow. – Až zítra dorazím domů, Kate bude zrovna pracovat. (Dáváme buď důraz na to, že aktivita bude probíhat delší dobu, nebo že bude právě probíhat, když nastane nějaký jev – when I get home tomorrow).

• I am seeing my boss on Friday at 5.
• I am going to see my boss on Friday at 5. (Předem dohodnuto, naplánováno)
• I will see my boss tomorrow on Friday at 5. (Zrovna jsem se rozhodl, nejedná se o 100% jistotu, možná k aktivitě nedojde).
• I will be seeing my boss on Friday at 5. (V pátek v pět zrovna budu uprostřed aktivity – setkání se šéfem.)

5 Stavová vs. dějová slovesa

V kombinaci s budoucím časem průběhovým zpravidla používáme dějová slovesa, nikoliv stavová. Jak již název napovídá, tato slovesa vyjadřují stav a nejsou určena k vyjádření průběžného děje nebo činnosti, která probíhá v budoucnu.

Nelze tedy říci například: I will be having the book in the evening. – Tu knihu budu mít večer.

Výjimku tvoří velmi zdvořilé otázky, ve kterých se může objevit např. sloveso need nebo want:

• Will they be needing these documents on Friday? – Budou v pátek potřebovat tyto dokumenty?
• Will you be wanting to cancel the hotel reservation if you miss your flight? – Budete si přát zrušit tu rezervaci hotelu, pokud Vám uletí letadlo?

6 Praktická ukázka použití budoucího průběhového času (Future Continuous)

Tomorrow at 10 AM, I will be running in a race. I can’t wait to stand at the starting line and take off on the course. During the race, I will be wearing my new running shoes that I bought last week. I believe they will help me perform better. On the way to the race, I will be warming up to be ready. When I finish, I will be feeling completely exhausted, but happy. I hope to have a good time and beat my personal record.

Tomorrow at 10 AM, I will be running in a race. – Časové určení nám říká, že v té době bude probíhat nějaká aktivita.
During the race, I will be wearing my new running shoes that I bought last week. – Během celého závodu je budu mít na sobě, aktivita probíhá dlouhou dobu.
On the way to the race, I will be warming up to be ready. – Zatímco budu na cestě na závod, budu se zahřívat a rozcvičovat. – Aktivita opět bude v průběhu.
When I finish, I will be feeling completely exhausted, but happy. – Šel by použít i budoucí čas prostý, ale takhle dáváme důraz na průběh.
